What the hell...?

"He never calls the place a studio, never refers to himself as an artist. `Messing around', he calls what he does there, and seems to view it as some extension of boyhood's perfectly bored backyard afternoon."
--William Gibson in "The Winter Market"
Okay, so you're wondering, what the hell is this site?

That's an awfully good question. Honestly, I started with a couple pages in 1995, and over the years, the site keeps evolving and changing, and things get added to it, and people ask me "well, what's the site about?"

And I give them some sort of evasive answer, and they get annoyed and I get annoyed and the conversation hopefully moves onto something else.

So what's the site about? It's about things that entertain me. It's about things that interest me. It's about anything I find personally interesting. Mostly it's just fun.

People also ask me what "songweaver" means.

It's a handle I've used on the internet for a long time. It's derived from the fact that I play improvisational music. I refer to this as song weaving, because I interweave different melodies and themes, and it's never quite the same every time I play it. It's like a rich tapestry of tone and rhythm, repeating patterns and intertwining with itself. If you want to hear examples of this, I've connected them with the CD I've produced called Rough Cuts

Anyway, I probably haven't answered many questions. But I also think that that's okay, because mystery is good for people, and if you like my site, you'll do some exploring and hopefully learn a little bit, and if you don't like my site, well that's okay too.

(However, if you do enjoy it, you might also want to look at other sites I've designed)
