If your browser is Javascript compatable, you'll see a reference above to what sort of machine you're using, and the URL from which you linked into this page. This was a very easy script to write, and more sophisticated programmers can get a good deal more information out of you than I did.
I do not endorse all of the various theories included within, nor do I reject them out of hand. I find some of them ludicrous, some of them fascinating, and some of them extremely compelling. But rather than tell you what to think or what to believe, I find it best to simply present the various perspectives and let you decide for yourself what to think of what you read. The Electronic Privacy Information Center amd Electronic Frontier Foundation sites will provide you with similar information. An important piece of advice: Never under any circumstances should you give out credit card or personal financial information online. The internet simply is not that secure. I know that does sound genuinely paranoid, but it also happens to be very sage advice. However, there are also ways to protect yourself via the internet. If you like, you can obtain an anonymous id from anon.penet.fi. From all indications, as long as you're doing nothing illegal, this is entirely secure. To find out more about this, e-mail help@anon.penet.fi. There are plenty of television shows out there which help feed our paranoia, such as The Prisoner, The X-Files, Nowhere Man and Max Headroom.
