An Impromptu Dance

(Winter, 1998)

As I dance this Dance tonight I cry to the Heavens and the Sky and the Hopes of the Dreams before me.

As I dance this Dance tonight I walk with one hand in the Clouds and another in Mother Earth's deep Soil.

I dance with a Scream in my lungs and a Cry on my lips.

I dance with Hope in my heart.

I dance with Fear in my legs.

I dance with the trembling madness of the Life Gone By Too Quickly.

I dance with the loving hope of the Life Yet Before Me.

I dance with Fear.

I dance with Hope.

I dance with Joy.

I dance with Frantic Wonton Frenzy.

I dance with moments of Sorrow, moments of Laughter, moments of Envy, moments of mournful passing, moments of startling rebirth.

I dance with Passion.

I dance with Love.

I dance with Joy.

I let The Scream escape my lungs, escalating out through my lips.

My arms begin to spin around.

I throw Dirt into the heavens.

I hurl Clouds into the earth.

My eyes are Fire.

My belly is taut.

My sinews pull and sway as my muscles shift and twist.

And as I stomp and sweat and grind and screech and scream and shout and play you will see these moments in my eyes, these moments of life and gratitude and love and hope and joy.

And this dance shall never end.
